Getting Real delivers better results because it forces you to deal with the actual problems you’re trying to solve instead of your ideas about those problems. It forces you to deal with reality.
What is Getting Real? (by 37signals)
I’m reading my homework for the Agile Product Design and Project Management workshop at ONA this week. The problem of anticipating problems keeps coming up, which is something we’re all too familiar with in these parts (journalism, MinnPost, my brain).
I am starting to recognize how soul sucking — and seductive — this can be. How often do we sacrifice creativity, inspiration and productivity in the name of discussing potential problems? Dealing in hypotheticals is both temptingly easy and maddeningly pointless most of the time.
